Bargaining Unit Employee

BILL OF RIGHTS

 

All bargaining unit employees have:

 

  1. A right to form, join, or assist the Union or to refrain from any such activity freely and without fear of penalty or reprisal.

 

  1. A right (whether or not a Union member) of being covered by a negotiated contract between the union and management.

 

  1. A right to file a grievance without fear of reprisal.

 

  1. A right to consult with Union officials/representatives on questions concerning personnel policies, regulations, and other matters pertaining to conditions of employment using a reasonable amount of official time. 

 

  1. A right to have Union representation in all grievable matters.

 

  1. A right to have a Union representative present during any discussions with the supervisor that the employee has reason to believe may lead to disciplinary action.

 

  1. A right to be treated with fairness and dignity.

 

  1. A right to expect a safe work environment.

 

  1. A right to expect fair and equal treatment in all working conditions.

 

  1. A right not to be discriminated against on the basis of sex (gender), race, color, national origin, physical or mental disability, or age. 

 

  1. A right to work in an environment free from sexual harassment or other illegal behavior.

 

  1.  A right to act for the Union in the capacity of a representative when duly appointed or elected as a representative and the right, in that capacity, to present the views of the Union to heads of agencies and other officials of the executive branch of the Government, the Congress, or other appropriated authorities.
