Dear ____________________, I am a DoD employee working at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama. I am writing to ask you to support the American Federation Of Government Employees (AFGE) and the other Unions representing defense workers in our fight against the National Security Personnel System (NSPS). Specifically, I ask that you work to ensure that the FY2008 Defense Authorization conference report include: * The House-passed NSPS reform language in its entirety; * The Senate-passed language calling for a complete repeal of NSPS for DoD’s wage grade workers; * The House and Senate-passed language calling for all DoD labs to be exempted from NSPS. Further, I ask that you work to also ensure that the FY 2008 Defense Appropriations conference report contain the House passed language barring funding of NSPS. As President Bush has already threaten to veto any measure which may interfere in DoD’s personnel system reforms, I also want to urge you to vote to override any such veto if the threat is carried out. DoD employees have always stood strong in our support of the U.S. military forces. Our commitment to our work and sense of duty to our country has never before been called into question. NSPS is a slap in the face to all who have served in the DoD civil service and must not be allowed to proceed. Sincerely, _____________________
